While New Zealand remains a successful country in global terms, it faces a growing range of challenges in the 2020s, from adapting to climate change, to providing for an ageing population, to growing a more productive economy, to the rapidly changing geopolitics of the Asia Pacific region. And as Shamubeel Eaqub revealed in our Foundation’s recent report, New Zealand communities are also suffering from low social cohesion across a range of measures. This webinar saw Bernard Hickey and Shamubeel Eaqub, two of New Zealand’s most thoughtful commentators, discuss these issues and what responses are needed to ensure New Zealand remains a fair, inclusive and sustainable place to live in the years ahead. The discussion was moderated by our patron, Rt Hon Helen Clark.
